Wedding Bouquet Bauble Beauty

A few years ago, I went to a family wedding and was pleasantly surprised to see the bride ditch the traditional wedding bouquet in favour of a wedding ‘bauble’ (that’s what I’ve christened it but your florist may have a more accurate name). I can’t understand why more brides aren’t embracing the bauble on their big day. You don’t have to hold it all the way through the ceremony (as pictured); it can be fitted with a hanging loop.

I think the design in my photo is beautifully elegant but if you’d prefer more colour, the bauble would look equally stunning in flowers of bright pinks, yellows, purples or oranges. It’s a winner for younger flower girls, in my view. Imagine them walking up the aisle with a bauble clutched in hand. So cute! The hanging ribbons with beading or pearls are optional but I think they look magical. It’s nice to have the freedom to be a little whimsical with your flowers on your wedding day. The wedding bauble is modern, stylish, fun and simply gorgeous. Here’s the close up so you can decide for yourself:

 

Dance Like Beyonce At Your Wedding (Crazy In Love)

You’ve got to admire Beyonce … The woman rocks out arenas for two hours straight, night after night, wearing ridiculously high heels. That’s got to hurt. If it was me, I’d be guzzling painkillers the whole night through. It’s bad enough when you hit the club on a Saturday night. It’s not long before you start scanning the venue for a comfy seat, or even resort to kicking off your stilettos to go barefoot. Foot ache can start to nag like tooth ache very quickly. Unfortunately.

There are no such choices for Beyonce at her gigs and your wedding day is your own Beyonce moment; all eyes on you, hour after hour, all night long. You’re the queen of the dancefloor, jumping, shimmying, shaking and swaying through every single song being delivered by your band or DJ. Your feet start throbbing and no amount of adrenalin can anaesthetize the pain. There’s no avoiding it; the wedding’s in full swing but the bride’s about to fall flat. Thank God. For flat soles, that is. Yep, most savvy brides have their maid of honour stash a pair of flats for them in a bag, ready to produce at that crucial moment when you’re ready to start crying or screaming.

A simple satin pair of ballerina pumps, dyed to match the colour of your dress, will suffice. But, if you want some bling to match your wedding ring, I’d suggest this sparkly, white, patent pair currently on sale in Fenwicks (Brent Cross Shopping Centre). Check out the faux diamonds and pearls… Even Prince (Symbol or whatever he’s called these days) would surely approve.

For £25, these will be a cheap saviour on the most important night of your life. So, let things go flat on your wedding night – and have a better time!

Spotlight on Vintage Style Wedding Cakes

You’re planning your wedding and torn between choosing a modern-looking wedding cake or a vintage styled creation. It’s a case of contemporary style versus stylish chic. There’s no right or wrong; choosing your wedding cake is a personal choice. As long as it’s in keeping with the overall theme of your special day and tastes as good as it looks, you can’t go wrong.

Or can you?

Having been to many weddings where the cake has upstaged the bride (I KID YOU NOT), I’d recommend giving careful consideration to this seemingly simple task. The cake selected says as much about a bride’s personal style as her wedding dress does. An over-the-top dress paired with an over-the-top cake in an over-the-top venue with over-the-top decorations reeks of insecurity; the bride is desperate to impress everyone and her day is more about others rather than herself and the special commitment she is making to her partner.

Ask yourself, ‘who or what will be the showstopper at my wedding’? For me – and of course, you may disagree – it’s the bride who should be crowned as the undisputed showstopper. She is the pivot upon which everything rests; her dress (style, drape, shape, texture) influences the overall colour scheme – from the flower arrangements to the venue decorations. The bride should be the one thing that constantly draws the eye throughout the day; a beautiful vision no-one wants to look away from. Everything else should work to enhance this vision of beauty, not upstage it, and that includes the wedding cake. It’s one of the many wonderful finishing touches which should all work together to deliver a stunning, overall experience of the entire day. When the cake has more va-va-voom than the bride at a wedding, I always find myself feeling disappointed for her. As I sit within the crowd, listening to everyone’s endless comments about the “amazing cake” which “looks gorgeous” I think to myself: ‘Er, isn’t that what they should be saying about the bride?’. I rest my case.
